Fender
I like Fender guitars primarily cause of an Air Force buddy that had one in Japan. He and some other guys got together a rock group and played the local Pubs. Unfortunately, I never thought to get contact info before we parted so I don't know whether he, or anyone in the group pursued their endeavors after they got out or not. They were very good. They should have.
I played drums in my High School band. I thought that I could sit down and play a full drum set with no problem. Not quite. Like everything else, it takes time and practice. I and a couple of other guys tried to get a group together while I was there in Japan, but it didn't pan out. For one thing, none of us were very good and I got shipped out TDY to the Phillipines. When I got the others had lost interest. So, I sold my drumset and bought a Japanese imitation of my friend's Fender Jaguar. I practiced but could not do well.
I kept that guitar till I got out of the service and then after a couple of months I went to the local music and purchased a brand new Fender Jaguar. This was in February of 1969. It was a ton easier to play and I got a little better but nothing great.
I have since purchased and sold a Fender Precision Bass, a 12 string guitar, a banjo and played in a small rock band. I still have my Jag, a Fender Jazz base and a differnet Fender acoustical 12 string. I still don't play well but ... then some of the "professionals" that I have seen over the years don't either.
Ampeg
This is tube driven model that I got in the early seventies. I got it used so I'm not sure of it's birthdate. However, it like the guitars, is still in good shape. Mainly cause it like my guitars didn't get used a whole lot.
