PHP

Hello there

Not much to say yet. About the only thing I have implemented in PHP is the Visitor counter. I didn't write it though. A nice team at BBClone did. I don't think there is a whole lot more that could be desired than what they implemented. Well, on second thought there always is something else that is wanted. But, I'm sure that they are going to add to it and the source is provided so you can always add to it and make changes yourself.

Oooops. I also got a real neat GuestBook. Now I can quit dependance on other sites and alter the stuff to fit my own needs.

Well, the Guest Book went by the wayside. I had some problems with BBclone after changes that were made at my ISP. (check bbclone htaccess in menu) During the investigation on the problem and fixing it, I noticed that I was getting a ton of visits to my Guest Book and some of them were lasting for hours with lots and lots of reloads. And they were not even signing my Guest Book!! How rude. In the past I had found that some unscrupulous individuals were using my Guest Book as advertisement / links to their sites. So I did like some others and placed an identifier in a graphic that had to be entered in order to validate the visitor. Nobody signed my Guest Book anymore. So, it has been retired.

Using PHP

Just a little note, if you click on the "PHP Sys info" selection in the menu on the left you will see the details of PHP that is impemented on this system. This is the kind of details that you need to know about the Host where you would like to place your WebSite. Some of the PHP programs that are offered by others require certain versions and parameters in order to work properly. In order to get this information you do as I did and write a one line PHP file containing <?php phpinfo() ?> and that is it, unless you want to add a comment line or two. If you have Apache and PHP setup on your own PC you can run this program locally and see what you have set up. Course if you have Apache and PHP setup you proably already know that.

Again, in the menu on the left, you can click on "LAMP" or "WAMP" to get info on a Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP setup or a Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP setup. Both of these will direct you to the downloads, if needed, and provide info for the installation and testing.

I have implemented a customer database in PHP and MySQL. I can't let you access the DB but I can tell how I built it. My PHP Info has some of the details and more is in the MySQL section. (actually I got interrupted and I am still not finished!!)
