Well now, it is almost a year later and I am just getting around to reviewing this 'pot'. Course ya gotta use it in order to review it, or so one would think.

The first part I want to say is that I like this machine. It brews my 4 cups of coffee everyday and it is great. One thing I don't like about it is the placement of the "fill window", at the back, and the fact that there is only one. We purchased a Mr. Coffee CG13 at the same time for a little over half the price and it has two fill windows. One on each side -- at the front! However, the CG13 does NOT have an auto shutoff.

Both coffee makers brag on an "auto pause" feature that is a pain in both. It does not stop the drips. IF you try to grab a cup before the brew is finished you will have drips on the hot plate. Even after it is finished you can get drips on the hot plate. Another one of my complaints about coffee makers ... all of them. That is partially how they get "worn out" in my humble opinion. But at least the auto pause will stop the mainstream IF you can't wait.

I haven't used most of the features. I mainly purchased it for two reasons. Number one, I liked the Red Color and number 2 it has auto shutoff. Since I am retired, I haven't had the need to use the timer... yet. I may start using it to get my coffee going before I return from my morning dog walk.

Cleaning... cleaning... something I don't believe that I have ever done on 'any' of my coffee pots. -But- the water here is terrible. Don't know why we can drink it and survive!! Anywho, I got to noticing the calcium buildup and decided to check into it. So we have a cleaning section... and guess what?? White Vinegar. Yep, good ol' white vinegar may be used instead of "Mr. Coffee" cleaner. Just so happens that we have had to use some white vinegar to clean out some other items here, primarily our dog's water dishes. Now I will be repeating instructions that can be found in the Mr. Coffee manual. Just wanted them here on my WebPage.

1. BEFORE decalcifying, remove the water filtration disk from the machine.
   NOTE: 4 cups or 20 fl. oz. of undiluted, white vinegar may be used. Pour the mixture into the water reservoir.
2. Place a filter in the cup basket and close the basket lid.
3. Put the coffee pot back on the burner of the unit.
4. Brew 3 cups of the cleaning solution through the coffeemaker.
5. Turn the coffeemake off and let it stand for 30 minutes.
6. Run the remainder of the cleaning solution through the coffeemaker.
7. Discard the cleaning solution and rinse the pot thoroughly with clean water.
8. Fill the water resevoir with clean, fresh water.
9. Place the pot back on the coffeemaker.
10. Remove and discard the filter used during the cleaning.
11. Begin brewing and allow the full brew cycle to complete. They don't state it -but- I presume that this brewing is with just water.
12. Repeat steps 8 through 11 one mare time.

Your coffeemaker is now clean and ready to brew the next pot of delicious, hot coffee.
